Re: NEC V20 Chip

I believe the -10 is the right one.. but the 5 should work with the onboard MB crystal.... 4.77MHz run freq. is derived from the 14.31818 MHz crystal.. so the -5 should handle this and you will see the advantage of the V20 architecture for speed... but I believe most folks like the -10 to give a lit...

NEC V20 Chip

The NEC V20 -10 chips are good

they give an instant increase in speed.... more they do not fool with the system clock timing and this is important
for the Joystick timing for games...

Others that have used it hopefully will weigh in...

Re: 2nd Floppy Drive

I sounds like the system thinks it has Two drives, this is why it asked for drive B:.
maybe your config.sys is set up for two drives..

are you using the original Jr Floppy controller ?

Re: Racore Docs

These are good ideas,,,, May have to consider designing some of these things.. I have been a big fan of the Data/Address LED;s as used on the Imsai S-100 systems. I built an S-100 system in the late 70's, and have always wanted to outfit the Jr with Latched Address and Data LEDS just for that 'WAR G...

Re: Racore Docs

Couple of thought's here... The JRIDE and RACORE/RAPPORT memories will most likely conflict... My thoughts here are: I have both a Racore and Rapport system, and I preferred to keep these systems 'original'. I also have My COLOR system that is still a work inprogress, but this will be a FUN system t...

Re: Keyboard problem

I have a Jr -> PS2 keyboard adapter that may work.

I am not sure but it sounds like the game may be looking for 'different' key codes from the keyboard interrupt instead of bios in some manner..
if you switch to a PS2 type keyboard, maybe ??? it might work !

just a guess....

Keyboard problem

Sent: 23 Feb 2021 23:50 From: RiverBoa99 Chuck, Any idea how to resolve keyboard issues? I've got a few games that just screech beep at me when I hit the keyboard, although the mouse works just fine. This is in CGA or Tandy-16 mode. I've heard there was a program to resolve the issue, and it helped...

Re: MY working system

The Sprint Board is a nice addition speeds up basic functions. but it can screw up game playing, Joystick timing etc..... but there is a switch to Turn in ON and OFF as needed.. My 3tier systems and the buttons on the front are: RESET (sprint board) TANDY (Tandy Mod ON/OFF) SPRINT (sprint ON/OFF)

Macro Assembler

Looking for a good version of the 8088 type Macro Assembler, IBM or Microsoft.. I think I have a version on some disks somewhere, but would like to get the full Binder edition, with manuals and working disks if possible. Saw a few on Ebay, but seemed kinda expensive, maybe not, just started looking....

Had to revisit the little program just to remember how it worked.
I have not used alot of batch commands but
It would be nice to have an alternative...

Just picked up a Model F (clickety) keyboard for my 5160.
It was almost new in box and I did pay a good price for it.
Since it was almost new the price did not hurt so bad

What software was used ?

I know there was some educational software that the Speech side car used. But was there any other games/business software that was used ? seems like the speech would have been a BIG deal for the Jr. but maybe the price tag kept if from kicking off, or also the fact that the Jr Died a sudden death......
